Description

The color version of my previous post... I developed both versions in parallel because I couldn't decide which was nicer.

5 images, vertical panoramic composite taken with a Canon SD800IS.

I like the greens in this one. Didn't notice this on the last one, but would probably crop out the rocks in the middle of the water at the bottom.

Think the green adds to the overall impression but I have same concerns as with your original post.

Still with that said this is the better version imo. :)

Not sure if it is worth posting it as its own post. I would have instead just added it in additional download on the original post. ;)

I like this very much. I'm impressed with how well the panorama blended the overlap in the water. The rocks on either side appear to be coming towards the viewer. Very nice.

I very disagree with moserArtist. Overexposure can have it's charms like in this photo. The contrast between the 'divine' water and the vivid green works very well. The sky is a bit pale maybe, but such things are hard to overcome, almost impossible. Especially when you're shooting with a Canon SD800IS.

I like this version better! Nothing really to critique! I wonder what this would have looked like as an HDR? Keep it up!

@Basw: I very disagree that you disagree with what I disagree.
I love this site! :p

I still think the wall behind is not straight... :p

I'm thinking the mist/depth of the image comes out better in the color version. As much as I like the black and white (in terms of mood) in this case the color version is getting closer to the correct depth/feel of the scene.

Re: Moser and Basw... stop fighting or I'll turn this car around! ;)

I have a tendency to lean towards b/w, i just think it forces you to consider a scene in a way you would not normally look at it - but here I think the colour version reveals so much more - more detail and texture in the rocks, more depth in the receding canyon, and more vibrancy in the contrast.
The power and ferocity of the water is well expressed - the pure whites reflect much of that energy for me.
Impressive image.

Thanks Traff, that's some thoughtful analysis for the issue of BW vs. Color.

Like it, I actually like it better than the B&W version... and that's odd!
