Great lighting effect. I'd crop some of the top and bottom black areas and make this a standard landscape format. Why take the original images in B&W? I'd always prefer converting to B&W in PS to leave the options open.

I've found that unless you're shooting RAW, shooting color and then converting to B/W in PS creates artifacts. This is due to the camera software compressing colors as opposed to pure values. Usually if I feel like I want color down the road I shoot both... unfortunately the actual flower colors were blue/indigo, not very easy to manipulate and prone to producing pretty severe banding if you muck about with the hue/sat. settings.

As for the layout, I did consider traditional landscape, but I liked the flowers floating in the dark a little more. You know me, I loves my empty space.

I like the choice of colours alot you have a great eye for such things I'd say.
They work so great together.

If looking for alternative suggestions, a very slight light seperating the subjects from the background.. maybe a very subtle grey a zone or two from dark side...
