Description

Another DOF piece, this time a study in subtle color and light rather than "punch you in the face" vibrancy.

Shot with a Canon 40D, F1.5/100 on a 50mm prime.

This is a very nice contrast to last entry Edgefield Blossom, which was *bam* in your face :) subtlety is a much underrated quality in photos, and you catch it very well here! Tone, saturation, softness and sharpness are all working together. The mood this creates fits the concept perfectly.

The only thing I don't like is the composition, as I fail to see a clear concept. From own experience I know that it is nigh impossible to get it perfect with those scenes, but you do have some hint of a diagonal in there which could be made a concept (sacrificing the nice soft bokeh background on the left). Maybe take a larger perspective making the main subject smaller could help to place it in a good composition? Perhaps you have some more picture around that could even be used for a rotate? (This was my first thought seeing this image)

Beautiful! 7/9
P.S. One must love that bokeh... awesome lens, should get it as well :)

Ah, a concept. Well, this fellow is actually intended as a personal wallpaper. Specifically, the soft tones, darker palette and off-center composition are intended to work well with a layout of icons on a desktop that generally build out from the top left. Like the dewdrop piece it is interesting -- but not perfect -- on its own, but the experience once put into place is worth those sacrifices.

Putting that aside, your comments are dead on.

Excellent image for a wallpaper. Love the Greens and DOF. I a agree with Jacobine about the bottom......... could use just a little more space.
